Welcome to the Department of Education
We are a vibrant department where students are prepared to become teachers, school leaders, and educational policy makers for 21st century educational environments.
Our teacher education program is proud to meet rigorous state and national standards for educator preparation. We are a member in good standing of the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation, working toward accreditation of our educator preparation programs under the AAQEP standards with an anticipated Quality Assurance Review in 2023/2024.
We offer undergraduate and graduate teacher licensure programs in elementary and secondary education, including coursework and fieldwork in local K-12 schools. Our faculty are experts in their respective fields of education who work closely with university and community stakeholders to support and engage Wake Forest students.
Students from majors and minors across the Wake Forest campus take our divisional and first-year seminar courses, and many join our popular Schools, Education, and Society minor to explore emerging trends in education or go on to pursue our Master of Educational Studies graduate program.
We also host the college to career series of courses that support Wake Forest students as they examine personal strengths, characteristics, goals, and values to better understand their future career decisions.
