Retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County schools, Kelly Nichols served several roles with the system. For over 25 years, she served as a classroom teacher at Sherwood Forest and Meadowlark Elementary schools. Her classroom remained active and creative, and she often described it as “controlled chaos”. She loved finding out what made each child unique and using that connection for learning. After the classroom, Kelly served as the Instructional Facilitator at Whitaker Elementary school. At the district level, Kelly served all elementary schools as the Gifted Lead Teacher and ended her career as the district’s Systems Coherence and Strategic Planning Program Manager. Kelly is excited about the opportunity to work with educators of the future with the Wake Forest University’s Department of Education.
