I understand that I may be denied a North Carolina teaching license if I have any felony convictions.
I understand that I will student teach during the second semester of my senior year and that it is a full time commitment. I will complete all degree requirements other than those affiliated with student teaching (EDU 364L and EDU 365) prior to the spring of my senior year.
I understand that to be admitted to the program, I must achieve a passing score on the Praxis I test unless I have an ACT composite score of 24 or an SAT total score of 1170 (verbal and quantitative only). I will provide the licensure officer with a copy of my scores or arrange to take the Praxis.
I understand that if admitted to an education licensure program, I will be preparing to receive an initial teaching license in North Carolina. Upon successful completion of all program requirements, I will be recommended by the Department of Education for an initial teacher license that would ultimately be awarded by the state of North Carolina. I understand that in order to obtain a teaching license in any other state, I must complete all requirements set forth by that particular state. These requirements include but are not limited to fingerprinting, background checks, additional testing, and/or extra coursework to meet their legal requirements.
The components of the application process should be completed by April 1st of the student's junior year. Students will be considered for provisional admittance into the program if additional time is required. The final deadline for provisional admittance is August 15th following junior year.
