Department Awards
The Wake Forest University Department of Education has an Awards Committee intended to support projects that will encourage students to learn more about the field of education.

Submissions will be accepted to support WFU EDU majors, minors, and graduate students in need of funding toward (1) professional conference presentations, registration, and travel; (2) professional experiences in education; and (3) academic and service resources that support teaching, learning, and community engagement.
Student applications will be considered throughout the year, though the Awards Committee encourages students to plan ahead as limited funding is available each year. Other funding sources for students and faculty to consider are included below.

The Department of Education will honor three graduating seniors who identify as education majors and minors, including licensure and non-licensure tracks, and who best demonstrate and/or reflect the core components of our conceptual framework:
- Knowledge
- Purpose
- Engagement
- Experience
- Leadership
Important points to consider:
- An award will be presented to 1 elementary education major, 1 secondary education minor, and 1 Schools, Education, and Society minor.
- Seniors may be nominated by Education faculty, staff, or students (no self-nominations)
- Each of the three recipients will receive a monetary award of $1,000 and a plaque.
- All three recipients will be honored at the end-of-year celebration in April.
- Students will be selected by a committee of the faculty.

The Department of Education will present an annual award to a graduate student enrolled at Wake Forest who is a current Master Teacher Fellow in secondary education, who graduated with an undergraduate degree from Wake Forest, and who plans to pursue teaching at the high school level in the United States. Awards will be distributed in the spring during student teaching.
Award recipients will be selected by the secondary education faculty each year. The application deadline for Fellows will be December 1, and the award decision will be made by January 31 each year. Application materials will include (1) a short application, (2) a writing sample that establishes personal motivations, long-term goals, and aspirations in education, (3) cumulative and major undergraduate and graduate GPAs, and (4) a faculty advisor recommendation form. WS-TEACH residents will not be eligible for this award.
