Elementary Education Application

I understand that by completing this application I have declared an Elementary Education Major, and can take the required courses. Formal acceptance into the Elementary Education program will take place in January of my Junior Year.

I understand that in compliance with the state mandate, I am required to have a 2.70 minimum grade point average before being formally accepted and to maintain that average until commencement.

I understand that to be admitted to the program, I must achieve a passing score on the Praxis I test unless I have an ACT score of 24 or an SAT total score of 1170. I will provide the licensure officer with a copy of my scores or arrange to take the Praxis.

I acknowledge that I have not been convicted or am currently charged with a felony or crime other than a minor traffic violation.

I acknowledge that I am not listed on the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry, the Public Protection Registration Program, the State Sexually Violent Predator Registration Program, or the National Sex Offender Registry.

I understand that I may be denied a North Carolina teaching license if I have any felony convictions.

I understand that if admitted to an education licensure program, I will be preparing to receive an initial teaching license in North Carolina. Upon successful completion of all program requirements, I will be recommended by the Department of Education for an initial teacher license that would ultimately be awarded by the state of North Carolina. I understand that in order to obtain a teaching license in any other state, I must complete all requirements set forth by that particular state. These requirements include but are not limited to fingerprinting, background checks, additional testing, and/or extra coursework to meet their legal requirements.
